A PDD grants a free reroll on Common Knowledge checks when used to search for information, access archives, or pull data from connected systems.
The Personal Data Device, or PDD, is the standard companion tech carried by citizens across the Echelon System. Sleek, voice-responsive, and tethered to both the CoreNet and public-facing Mnemoscape feeds, a PDD offers every user a direct line to the curated reality of modern life.
Though it cannot initiate drift into the Mnemoscape, it can access Mnemoscape input/output streams, allowing users to dreamcast and consume layered data in controlled settings.
Most drones are not issued or permitted PDDs unless explicitly required by their contract.
Used PDDs do not grant the free reroll. The cheapest variants invoke a penalty when used for Common Knowledge or Research (Digital) checks.
| Condition | Cost | Description | Effects |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scuffed | $200 | Used, patched, or cosmetically damaged | No penalty, no benefit |
| Glitched | $50 | Dangerous, unstable, or Hollow-tainted | -2 penalty on Common Knowledge and Research (Digital) checks |
These aren’t just devices. They’re cultural extensions of the corporations that made them—and the people who wear them.
These are not mechanically different from the standard PDD and cost the normal $500 or less for a used version.
