“You’re not plugged in. You are the plug.”
Strain: — (1)
This core cranial implant enables wireless access to the Mnemoscape. It is the foundational implant for all Neural Interface-based cyberware. Connection is a limited free action.
The implant houses the Neural Stack, composed of:
- API – Defines base protocols and Mnemoscape access. It is upgradable. Installing or replacing an API requires new firmware code and Hacking procedures that take 10-100 rounds.
- Glyph Cache – Stores up to four Neuroglyphs. Glyphs allow operators to manipulate the Mnemoscape, breach systems, and counter hostile constructs.
- Aegis – A passive mnemonic firewall, acting as an operator’s personal defense layer. It provides protection against Wraiths, feedback, and other threats within the Hollow.
Glyphs and Aegis are sold separately, while all Anchors are installed with a built-in API.
Lore
The Synaptic Anchor is a surgically embedded neural implant located at the base of the skull, interfacing with both the bio-neural lattice and the Mnemoscape signal array. It serves as the universal conduit for all wireless data exchange, internal augmentations, and thought-command protocols. Without one, a person is functionally “offline”—unable to interface with Mnemoscape constructs, corporate overlays, local networks or the system-wide networks.
Key Features
- Through the API, grants secure or illicit access to the Mnemoscape and the Hollow, depending on calibration and modifications.
- Required for Directive Conditioning, including drone protocols and loyalty conditioning systems.
- Allows cyberware to sync via neural oscillation—enabling implants to run off the body's own energy cycles.
- Stores glyph sequences for operators to activate a limited array of Neuroglyphs without additional hardware.
